Design is a verb, not a noun. This may sound cliché if you have heard it before, but it is the foundation of my formal training and the work which inspires me. Design is the in-depth analysis of a problem statement, the gathering of all pertinent information within project constraints, and the attempted proposal of the best possible solution without personal bias or preference.

The product of the design process becomes a solution. This designation highlights the probability that a solution is one of many, which may evolve as the problem statement changes. In this regard, what is commonly referred to as my design becomes instead an interpretation of a solution which may or may not add measurable value toward the achievement of the goal(s).

My vision of design, its place in the world marketplace, and its value in our social society are inspired by the Swiss and German principles of cleanliness, strict organization, and functional minimalism. Only at the respect of this foundation does a designer gain the ability to produce a solution which is virtually timeless, as decoration outside of established utility and communication need is simply based in contemporary fad.
